State and Municipal Services

Ambient's clients include towns, housing authorities and state and regional authorities.

We understand the importance of delivering excellent service at a value to improve the quality of life for all. A few examples are below:

Roadway Design and Stormwater Evaluation
The Town of Billerica Engineering Department retained Ambient Engineering to evaluate drainage problems in the Michael Road neighborhood. This area floods during heavy rains each spring.

ImageAmbient’s efforts include: data collection, a GIS-based AutoCAD model of the 157 acre watershed, a hydroCAD model to evaluate the infiltration, storage and conveyance capacity within the watershed and evaluating and recommending improvements to the stormwater management system.

Ambient worked with the Billerica Engineering Department to secure Chapter 90 funding and to develop an estimate. The Town of Billerica also retained Ambient to present the findings of the study to the community and to prepare the bid specifications and drawings for construction.

Building Feasibility Study
ImageAmbient Engineering was contracted by the Stoughton Housing Authority to perform a Building Expansion Feasibility Study. The client is interested in expanding housing on the Stoughton Memorial Village site and asked Ambient to review existing site conditions, current records and applicable regulatory guidelines, perform an architectural review, an accessibility review and describe development alternatives.

The Stoughton Housing Authority has decided to pursue construction finding.

Watershed Action Plan
Ambient was contracted by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs (EOEA) to prepare a five year Watershed Action Plan for the Sudbury/Assabet/Concord (SuAsCo) Watershed. The SuAsCo Watershed encompasses approximately 377 square miles and all or part of 36 towns and cities.

Ambient created an Assessment Report documenting existing conditions within the Watershed in the following seven categories:

  • Growth and Development
  • Water Quality
  • Land Protection and Open Space
  • Habitat and Biodiversity
  • Recreation
  • Outreach and Education

Ambient and SuAsCo facilitated eight public meetings to create Watershed goals and create an action matrix. These meetings were held in towns and cities throughout the Watershed. The Watershed Action Plan resulted in a public conference which was attended by over 100 people.
